Creating Carnival 2016 was a project ran by Global Grooves, a carnival company based in the North West of England. This new project was set up to give five emerging artists the opportunity to devise and produce their own carnival that would be taken out and performed at events across the North West.
To commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death we explored the story of The Tempest. Drawing upon themes of unrest, transformation and harmony using carnival traditions from across the globe to celebrate the literary genius and to make social commentary on the worlds current state of unrest.
I participated within this project as Lead Artist, taking on the visual aspect of the carnival alongside artist Emily Wood. The Tempest was performed at Brazilica and Manchester Jazz Festival over the July 2016.
