M O S S L E Y L I G H T F E S T I V A L.
This year I was an artist for the first Mossley Light Festival. The festival saw myself and Emily Wood take forward our production of The Tempest, designing and adding lighting to the costumes to make the show accessible at night time. I also had the pleasure of assisting artist Iola Weir with the dressing of two giant mechanical peacocks and her Trinidadian inspired giant puppet.
On the run up to the parade I ran several lantern making workshops at The Vale in Mossley, this saw many local families come in to the studio space and we worked together making lightbulb shaped lanterns. I also assisted local artist Mike Green on his project making large scale withy structures with a local group called Crafty Brew, the lanterns focused on the transformation of caterpillars to butterflies.
Throughout the project I had the opportunity to work alongside some incredible local and international artists, it was an amazing new project that I gained a lot of insight and knowledge from that I look forward to taking further into my own practice.
